This year we will serve the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd in Campton, KY. They have humbly requested the following items to serve their community:
Thank you to all who contributed to our 2021 drive! We filled 48 boxes this season, sent a check for well over $1,000, and sent close to 20 gift cards to Queen of All Saints Church in Beattyville, Kentucky. Your generosity will help serve over 300 families this Christmas.
The boxes were filled with the following requested items:
In 2021 the drive ran from October 1-November 1, and we got news on December 9 that our donations arrived! Here is a thank you message from Queen of All Saints Church:
While we at Queen of All Saints Church in Beattyville are still unable to use our church building due to a flood on March 1, 2021, we are using a temporary building and are overwhelmed with joy by your thoughtfulness. You gave so many gifts, both physical and monetary, and we have so many families in need that will now have something to open on Christmas Day because of your generosity. Thank you to everyone and God’s blessings always to all of you.
Again, thank you for participating in the Appalachia Christmas Project!

We collected a total of 52 boxes this year and set a new record! 40 boxes are headed to Holy family Catholic Church with the items they requested below, and 12 boxes will go to Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd. The 12 boxes were filled with blankets, shoeboxes and backpacks filed with gifts, and other wonderful items. We also received monetary donations and forwarded them as requested. Thank you for your dedication to this program!
What was the 2020 program all about?
This year will be different for the people in eastern Kentucky. Instead of heading inside Santa's Workshop to receive their gifts, they will pick them up at a drive through. The pandemic will force a lot of changes, and when we spoke to Sister Angie at Holy Family Catholic Church in Booneville, Kentucky, she requested a few specific things for her community. While this may seem like an odd Christmas list, these items are really needed. The adults in the community need the following items desperately for use on a daily basis. Please donate NEW items only.
In early November, through the efforts of the St. Paul and Minneapolis CCW and Terminal Transport of Roseville, the donations will be driven to Kentucky (home to five of the ten poorest counties in the nation.) People in these areas experience epidemics of prescription drug abuse, chronic obesity and toothlessness, high rates of diabetes and cancer, chronic depression, more than three times the national poverty rate, and shortened life spans for both men and women. Money and jobs are scarce and every year we receive letters of thanks from the families that receive gifts from members of our parish.
