Since Wednesday, February 17, the congregation has been able to sing the Mass parts and the Responsorial Psalm refrain. Cantors will continue to proclaim the psalm from the cantor stand. The music at entrance, offertory, and communion will continue to be sung by the cantor alone.
The reason for this change is that the parts are short, they don't encourage a lot of breath usage, and our congregation has been superb in keeping social distance with nearly 100% mask compliance!
Welcome back, singers!
As SEAS continues to offer live Masses and bring more and more parishioners back to church, we need more bodies in volunteer roles. The ministries below are related directly to the liturgical life of the parish. They are all done in service to the worship of God and the sanctification of the minister and the gathered people of God. Training is provided for all ministries. You select the Mass times and the frequency of your service. Email Kellen or call 651-437-4254 x230 if you can help with any of the listed liturgical ministries.
These ministries are a calling because you will find yourselves on the front lines of our parish family. If you are healthy and have been looking for a way to help others during this time, consider this your invitation! Our new schedule comes out at the end of January, so now is the perfect time to find your new calling! Please sign up by January 20, 2021.
These ministers are specially commissioned to assist the ordinary ministers, the ordained clergy, in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to the faithful. Ministers must be practicing Catholics, at least 16 years of age, and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. EMHC's must be under the age of 65 without any pre-existing health conditions that might put them at a higher risk. Volunteers in this position should be prepared to come forward at any Mass where more ministers are needed. Email Kellen or call 651-437-4254 x230 if you can help with liturgical ministry.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God to the gathered assembly. They prepare and practice their readings during the week and read in such a way as to disappear before the Word they proclaim. They also lead the congregation in intercessory prayer by proclaiming the Universal Prayer or Prayer of the Faithful (petitions).
In this ministry you will greet families as they come to church, monitor the number of people in our building, help maintain social distancing by seating families and giving instructions, help with sanitization after Mass, and be ready to assist in ways large and small as we safely celebrate Mass in these new circumstances. Porters must be under the age of 65 without any pre-existing health conditions that might put them at a higher risk
A sacristan prepares the vessels and materials for Mass and assures proper purification and storage after Mass. The sacristan coordinates other scheduled ministers to help facilitate a smooth and prayerful experience. Sacristans must be fully initiated (having received Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation).
