Thank you for participating in this year's program!
There is no doubt that this coming year will be unlike any other due to COVID-19. Going forward, a majority of the formation will take place in your home. And while there is no fee, there is still a significant impact on the parents of those who will begin their formation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. It may sound intimidating, but we will give you all the tools that you need. One of the great perks about this approach is the flexibility it offers you. There will be no timeline for your children to receive the Sacraments. When you believe they are ready and after we make an assessment, they will be able to receive the Sacrament. Whether it's November or next July, that is when they will receive the sacrament. If you feel that you would like to take more time, we trust you as a parent to make that decision. The best part about this is that you are living out your role as the primary educator in the faith for your children.
This year, our sacramental preparation will consist of resources from the published program shown here and resources from our priests and Faith Formation office. Lessons will be sent by email. If parents prefer printed copies for pickup at the parish, please indicate that when registering online below. There is no charge for the online program.
We anticipate beginning mid-to late-October. Sacramental preparation for these Sacraments typically occurs in second grade, but can happen in later grades. Please call Mary Ellen with questions.
REMINDER: The Archdiocese requires that children be fully prepared for First Reconciliation prior to preparation for First Eucharist. Families will need to complete First Reconciliation preparation before they can begin preparation for the sacrament of First Eucharist.
Adults and children beyond 2nd grade wishing to receive First Reconciliation are encouraged to join the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults process (RCIA). Click here to learn more. Mary Ellen leads the RCIA program.
