These ministers are specially commissioned to assist the ordinary ministers, the ordained clergy, in distributing the Body and Blood of Christ to the faithful. Ministers must be practicing Catholics, at least 16 years of age, and have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. EMHC's should be prepared to come forward at any Mass where more ministers are needed. Email Denis if you can help with this ministry.
These ministers prepare the materials necessary for the Funeral Mass and work with the parish staff to assure a beautiful time of prayer for the soul of the deceased. In addition to simplified sacristan duties, these ministers often act as altar servers during the Mass. Email Denis if you'd like to serve for funeral Masses.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God to the gathered assembly. They prepare and practice their readings during the week and read in such a way as to disappear before the Word they proclaim. They also lead the congregation in intercessory prayer by proclaiming the Universal Prayer or Prayer of the Faithful (petitions). Email Denis if you can help with this ministry.
Lead the Rosary or assist with weekly morning Masses at local care facilities. For the latter, bring the Mass kit and vestments, and prepare the altar for the priest. Participants must complete necessary background training at the facility and fulfill Archdiocesan requirements.
Take Holy Communion to those unable to attend Mass. Read short scripture passages and pray with recipients. Volunteers must provide their own tranportation and complete Vulnerable Adult training and a background check as required by the Archdiocese.
